Getting Started
Use this page to choose what to read next. The sidebar groups detailed guides by topic; the paths below organize them by what you want to do and how far along you are.
Before You Start
If you are new to Scatter, read the Introduction to Scatter for an overview. Then choose the path that fits you:
- Collecting NFTs: start with wallet safety, mint fees, and the guides relevant to how you mint.
- Creating a collection: follow the launch sequence or jump to your current stage.
- Building with the API: use Scatter in your own app.
- Marketplace: learn about the trading interface and its fee rules.
- Scatter Platform: shared features, fees, and shill guidance.
You do not need to read every page before starting. Follow the core path for your role, then use the optional references when you need them.
Collecting NFTs
For collectors coming to Scatter to mint:
- Start with Security for wallet and transaction safety.
- Read Minting Fees to understand public mint fees, then Charms to find free mints available to your wallet.
- If you mint from your phone, follow Minting on Mobile.
- Use Platform FAQ for wallet or sign-in issues, and Minting FAQ for minting and collection questions.
Read User Profiles to understand your profile link, custom username and picture, and the profile's NFT and shill views.
Contract Minting is an advanced reference for interacting directly with a contract. It is not a prerequisite for using Scatter's minting interface.
For buying and selling existing NFTs, see the Marketplace section below. Collection deployment, uploading, and list management are creator tasks.
Creating a Collection
Plan Your Launch
Before deploying, choose your Contract Type and network, and read Minting Fees. These decisions affect your launch setup. Review the Publishing Rules before committing to a collection.

Follow the Core Setup
For a standard launch using Scatter-managed hosting, read these in order:
- Create and Launch an NFT Collection — create the collection contract.
- Prepare Your Files — gather NFT media, metadata, and branding assets.
- Collection Profile & Branding — configure the collection page, colors, and optional custom logos.
- Uploading Content — upload your files, review metadata, and understand reveal-on-mint.
- Mint Lists — configure public sales, whitelists, and claims. Read the disabling and replacement guidance before changing a list.
Burn to Mint is the next guide only if your launch exchanges existing NFTs for new ones.

Ready to Launch
Review your uploaded content and mint-list conditions, then follow Collection Visibility when you are ready to make the collection page public.
Aim to have the collection configured and checked a week before launch. Creators are responsible for their own promotion and community building; see Working with Scatter for expectations and how to contact the team about support or promotion.

Building with the API
Start with API Getting Started, then the Example Minting App. Keep Chain IDs and API Reference available as references while you build.
Marketplace
Start with Marketplace Overview and ETH, WETH & Marketplace Currencies. Then choose the guide for your task:
- Buying NFTs for purchasing a listed item.
- Offers & Bids for proposing a purchase price.
- Selling NFTs & Managing Listings for approvals, listing items, and sale proceeds.
Read Marketplace Fees, Royalties, and Shills for how sale fees are shared. Use Marketplace FAQ for common problems.
Publishing Rules
Use the Publishing Rules and Acceptable Use Policy as the references for content allowed on Scatter. For questions about intellectual property or fundraising, read IP Policy + DMCA or Fundraising Campaigns.
