Fees

Use this page as the shared reference for Scatter's fees. Minting and marketplace sales have different rules.

Deployment Fees

Depending on the chain, a collection deployment may require a small Scatter deployment fee. For L2/3s, the existing guidance describes a fee of around $2 USD to discourage spam collections. Check the deployment screen for your collection's fee; blockchain gas costs also apply.

Minting Fees

For most chains, Scatter's platform fee on paid mints is 5%. The minting platform percentage can vary by chain, so check the conditions for your collection. The percentage is taken from mint proceeds. A collection's optional minting shill program is configured separately; see Minting Shills.

The public-list minimum below is an additional rule for applicable minting contracts. It does not change the creator's share of mint proceeds.

Minimum Platform Fee

This is valid for contracts deployed after September 1st 2026.

Scatter charges a ~$1 minimum fee per token mint to minters when minting from public mint lists. Essentially, this makes it so that public mint lists have a minimum price of $1 to mint. For creators, this will not impact your share of minting proceeds. The Platform Fee only adds a fee to maintain a minimum per public mint. For minters, it means that an extra charge per mint will be added when minting collections on Scatter so that the total Platform Fee is a minimum of $1 per token.

Why A Minimum Fee?

Scatter is an open platform. Scatter has costs of running its services in this way which grow over time. As many collections mint for free, or a low price, they still have a cost for us to maintain. We understand and accept that having a minimum fee on public lists may discourage some people from releasing fully free mint or very low fee projects on Scatter. Many Ethereum-based platforms have closed their doors over the years, and we hope to continue to be able to maintain our platform for the good of all long term.

Charms Stay Fully Free

No Platform Fee is added to private free mint lists (Charms). You'll only be charged whatever the chain charges in gas for the transaction.

ERC20

Due to the difficulty of pricing custom ERC20 currencies, the minimum platform fee also applies to all public ERC20 mints.

Why Not Exactly $1 Per Mint?

The minimum fee is based on the current price of a chain's native token in USD to determine the current price for $1 of the current chain's native token. This value is updated every 15 minutes. It can be higher or lower than exactly $1 worth of the native token as the price of the native token is constantly changing. A 10% difference is accepted, and in some cases if you overpay vs. the current required fee, you will be refunded the excess.

Marketplace Fees

Scatter charges a 5% marketplace fee on sales completed through Scatter. Scatter's fee stays the same in all three cases below; only its recipients change. Fees already included in a listing from another marketplace are additional; see Listings from Other Marketplaces.

All percentages in the table are percentages of the sale price. For example, on a sale of 100 units, the marketplace fee is 5 units. Where a split applies, Scatter receives 2.5 units and either the shill or eligible collection owner receives the other 2.5 units.

An active shill link takes precedence over the collection-owner share of this fee. The shill and collection owner do not both receive 2.5% from the same sale's marketplace fee.

The marketplace shill's share is sent directly to their payout wallet in the purchase transaction, with no separate withdrawal. See Marketplace Shills.

Collections cannot opt out of this marketplace sharing rule. See why marketplace sharing is required. Whether a link is active follows the 30-day marketplace shill-link rules.

See Royalties for how to request collection approval and how collections and their communities can use shill links.

These fixed marketplace shares are separate from the configurable percentages in a collection's minting shill program. See Shills for an overview of the two programs.

Where Fees Are Shown

Buyers pay the listed price. Fees are already accounted for in that price and are not itemized at buy time. The buyer also pays the network gas required for the purchase.

Listing checkout shows sellers the fee breakdown and final proceeds. Instant Sell shows the net You Receive amount without itemizing the fees. Review the proceeds and payment currency before signing or confirming the sale.

The listing checkout can label the collection-owner share Creator Support and Scatter's share Platform Fee. These are components of the marketplace fee described above. See the listing fee example for the Items, fee deductions, and You Receive summary.

Listings from Other Marketplaces

When you buy a listing from another marketplace through Scatter, the fees in the original listing remain payable, and Scatter's 5% marketplace fee applies in addition. The source marketplace's fee payments remain part of its signed listing alongside Scatter's fee. These fees are accounted for in the displayed listing price; they are not separate charges added at buy checkout. The table above describes how Scatter's portion is shared.

The seller signs listing data that includes the fee payments. Changing or removing those fees would invalidate the signature, so the listing could no longer execute as signed. Aggregating a listing does not let either marketplace remove its signed fee payments. The same applies when another marketplace supports filling a Scatter listing: the fees signed into that listing remain payable. See How Signed Orders Work for authorization and settlement requirements.

Buyers review the listed price and purchase total; sellers review the fee breakdown and final proceeds. See Buying NFTs for checkout guidance.

Gas and Marketplace Fees

Network gas is separate from the marketplace fee. Collection approvals require gas, while creating listings under an active approval does not require listing gas. The buyer pays gas to purchase a listing; the seller pays settlement gas when using Instant Sell to sell into bids. Bidding requires a payment-token approval, which also costs gas when granted. See Approvals and Gas for the action-by-action guide.
